You may or may not have seen the news that #robinbun is a little baby boy, but it’s true! We’re excited to welcome another male into our household. Neil said I could put our kid in tiny tap dance lessons regardless of gender, so I’m pumped! But what is the name? If you prefer to keep it a surprise, then don’t scroll past the next photo. If you want to know why we chose the name we did – and what it is – then scroll away!

Peter Alfred Robinson

Peter – Peter wasn’t initially on the list, but the name worked its way into our hearts and our brains. We love it for a few reasons:

  1. It’s a biblical name. Peter is the name Jesus gave the apostle Simon. Peter was the one who denied Jesus three times leading up to the crucifixion before becoming one of the founders of the original Church. We love the picture of God using a broken man to continue His ministry of love and forgiveness.
  2. It’s strong (it literally means stone) and carries with it a classic vibe. From Peter Rabbit to Peter the Great, there are some solid Peters throughout literature and history.

Alfred  – We both like the name Alfred a lot, even though it isn’t a name used for little kiddoes these days. As it happens, Alfred is also the *possible* middle name of Neil’s maternal grandfather (it’s a long story). The name means counselor, or more originally, elf counsel. And let’s be honest, that’s pretty dope. Both of Neil’s grandfather’s meant a lot to him and with Robinson as the last name, our son will have a little part of each of them.

A Bigger Bump

Apparently, Peter is the size of a cauliflower. Neil and I have found the vegetable-baby comparisons mildly creepy, especially since we’ve been eating cauliflower with dinner this week. Regardless, here he is in all his cauliflower glory.

Well, there you have it. We are looking forward to Peter’s arrival sometime in August. We know you are, too. Thanks for being on this journey with us.
